plexiglass, American holly, sterling silver, fine silver

The wood element is crafted from hand carved American holly resembling a form similar to that of a thorn. Shaped and beveled neon blue plexiglass sits in front of the wood element and is connected with sterling silver rivets. Resting on the blue plexiglass is a fine silver diamond mesh that mimics the shape of the plastic piece behind it. A high polished cast sterling silver curb link sits mounted above the fine silver diamond mesh. 

No. 2

plexiglass, walnut, sterling silver

A simple rectangular hand carved walnut strip showcases the grain of the wood moving left to right, partially highlighted by the neon plexiglass that sits in front. The hand shaped circular neon plexiglass rests off center of the wood element, its edges illuminated by refracted light. The top cast sterling silver curb link remains in line with the horizon drawn by the walnut behind it while the lower link swings freely.

mirrored plexiglass, figured white maple, sterling silver

Nestled on the bottom right corner of this brooch is a triangular piece of figured white maple veneer. The maple has been carefully riveted onto the corners of the plexiglass with sterling silver rivets. Behind the veneer is an angular and uneven polygon of mirrored pink plexiglass that has been carefully sanded to create a dull glow when light falls onto it. Draped from two of the top corners of the plexiglass is a Cast sterling silver, hand assembled curb link chain.

plexiglass, laminated wenge and maple, flocking, sterling silver

The laminated wood element is comprised of wenge and maple in a dynamic herringbone pattern. Carved with a rounded back, beveled edges, and to nest simply behind the plexiglass. Attached with sterling silver rivets, the smoked plexiglass sharply points the whole piece downwards. Floating on the edge of the plexiglass is a cast sterling silver curb link that has been flocked a bright pink color. The link heavily contrasts the neutral colors and textures of the other components.

plexiglass, laminated hardwood, flocking, sterling silver 

Several different hardwoods are laminated together to create a striped wood element that is hand carved into a monolithic rounded polygon. Resting behind the hardwood is a long cut plexiglass rectangle with two-tone horizontal variation that lightly resembles a silhouetted landscape. In the foreground a violet-flocked curb chain link prominently stands out with its play of color and texture that is unmatched by the rest of the piece.
